How it works.

Tabloid Mode™ uses a proprietary text-replacement engine built by Brian in 2024 using Notepad and a copy of Microsoft FrontPage 2000. It is, by industry standards, "extremely cursed", but it works.

What it does

  • Replaces every body font with Comic Sans MS, except headlines which become Impact Bold.
  • Increases all type sizes by 240%. Adds capital letters at random.
  • Reformats every paragraph as a single screaming sentence.
  • Inserts the phrase "FURY AS" at the start of any headline containing the word "minister".
  • Inserts a stock photo of a startled woman every 180 words.
  • Adds a 35p price tag and the words "PROUDLY BRITISH" to every page.
  • Reformats the URL bar as if it were a column of bullet points.

The Sun Tribute Mode

Premium subscribers (Empire and Churchill plans) can activate Sun Tribute Mode, which makes everything 38% more red, adds a small Union Jack to the top-right of every element, and replaces the word "European" with "INVADER".

Page 3 is a controversial optional extension. It is not enabled by default. We're not saying any more about it on this page, for legal reasons. You know what it is. If you want it, contact Brian via post. He'll know what you mean.

Things Tabloid Mode™ cannot do

  • Tell you what is true.
  • Render JavaScript-heavy single-page applications.
  • Display Twitter/X without crashing (a feature, we feel).
  • Coexist with screen readers (under investigation since 2024).
